In order to develop, modernize, and improve the efficiency of Al-Hamra Port, Eng. Tarek El-Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, laid the cornerstone for the solar power plant project in Al-Hamra port in the new city of El Alamein.

Al-Hamra Petroleum port is cited as a big opportunity for the petroleum industry with a strategic geographic advantage and a competent workforce that will help generate returns.

In order to meet the fuel needs of the expanding urban population and industrial districts, the minister officially opened projects like a storage and shipment facility for petroleum products with a capacity of about 400,000 tons. By streamlining traffic, the initiative hopes to ease strain on the transit of petroleum products along coastal roads.

The station has a capacity of 500 kilowatts, with the aim of diversifying electricity sources, reducing pressure on the consumption of electricity produced by the national electricity grid at a rate of 1,000 megawatts per hour, within a year, and reducing the consumption of electricity generated from conventional fuels, which reduces carbon emissions in the atmosphere.
